Welcome
Welcome to the Otterton Garden Club website. Whilst we no longer hold any club events such as talks, outings etc. we have retained the name and currently organise and run the Otterton Village Shows.
Flower and Produce shows have been held in the village since 1929 although they have changed considerably during that time. Once very competitive, the shows are much more relaxed these days and are fun events to take part in. The shows are primarily aimed at the people of the village although are open for anyone to enter. No-one that enters is a professional horticulturalist – people just show what happens to be looking good in their gardens at the time. No charge is made for entering exhibits in the shows and there are no cash prizes – just the satisfaction of picking up that red first prize card and for the very best there are trophies to be won.
Perhaps gardening is not a big interest of yours or maybe there is absolutely nothing in flower on the day that you could enter. In such cases there are other classes that might interest you such as cookery or photography.
If you don’t already do so, come along and put an entry or two in the show. You never know, you may enjoy it and you will be keeping up a village tradition which will reach its centenary in only a few years’ time.
